In the first step of the manufacturing polymerization, a unique combination of long and short silicone polymers creates a flexible silicone matrix, and an additional wetting component (dimethylacrylamide (DMA)) is incorporated into the silicone matrix to increase the moisture content to 55%. In the second-stage polymerization process, the wetting component polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) is combined around the silicone matrix to further strengthen moisture retention. Five ingredients that help stabilize the tear layer are added to the finished material to maintain 96% of lens moisture even after 16 hours of wearing.
