‘Bausch+Lomb Ultra One Day’, popular among consumers through word of mouth
Unique double-material polymerization technology, provides a comfortable fit with lasting moisture
“Ultra One-Day Lens” launched by Bausch+Lomb Korea, a global eye health specialist, is gaining popularity through word of mouth.
Bausch+Lomb's 'Ultra One Day' lens was launched in April last year with its strong points of comfort and long-lasting moisture. It is said that the results of continuous publicity with product power as a strength since its launch are paying off.
Bausch+Lomb’s ‘Ultra One Day’ lens is a new silicone hydrogel material that was developed after long research to help relieve the discomfort and dryness experienced by existing lens wearers. The new silicone hydrogel material of Bausch+Lomb’s ‘Ultra One Day’ lens balances the oxygen permeability, moisture content and modulus of the lens to provide a comfortable fit. The material of Bausch+Lomb’s ‘Ultra One Day’ was developed through proprietary double-material polymerization technology.
In the first step of manufacturing polymerization, a unique combination of long and short silicone polymers creates a flexible silicone matrix, and an additional wetting component (DMA: dimethylacrylamide) is incorporated into the silicone matrix, raising the moisture content to 55%.
In the two-step polymerization process, the wet component polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP: polyvinylpyrrolidone) is bonded around the silicone matrix to further strengthen water retention. Five ingredients that help stabilize the tear layer are added to the finished material, so it retains 96% of the lens moisture even after 16 hours of wearing.
